Retreat - Friday - Sixth Day Texts

The penultimate day of our week-long parochial faith awakening spiritual experience. The day for the sick and the day for the meditation on the mystery of the Cross. The conclusion of the day was the meeting with married couples taking on the issue of the crisis of the father figure in the world. Here are the texts:

Silver Jubilee of Priesthood

Yesterday I had a unique opportunity to see and feel how it may look like next year when I will be celebrating my silver jubilee of priestly ordination. My sisters, Denise and Thomas, frater William and the chairman of the parish lay council, together with myself - drove to Kigera-Etuma village, some 20 km beyond Musoma, in Nyegina parish, to the home village of Father Godfried Maruru, a priest of Diocese of Musoma and my friend, who celebrated yesterday his silver jubilee of priesthood...

The Deadline

I'm extremely glad that my bishop, the bishop of Diocese of Musoma, Rt. Rev. Michael Msonganzila, took his time to come and visit us here in Kiabakari this afternoon, while on his way back from the meeting with priests who formerly belonged to the Diocese of Musoma, but now will become a part of the presbyterium of the recently announced new diocese of Bunda. When they announced the creation of this new diocese, I thought initially that Kiabakari will become a part of the new diocese as we are neighbors with Bunda parish which has become now a capital city of the Diocese of Bunda (some 30 km only from Kiabakari)...

Father Or ATM?

We had a lovely evening, concluding the celebrations of the Birthday of Our Lady. Two sisters, altar servers and myself drove to downtown Kiabakari for a special Mass, on request of four Small Christian Communities located in the 'city center' constituting so called 'street' or 'mtaa' in swahili. There are six Catholic 'streets' in Kiabakari itself, and Madaraka is one of them. That is the one we went for to celebrate the Mass in a special intention...

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is my Dad's Birthday. I called him on Saturday evening to wish him all the best as he turns 74 today. Still going strong, still smiling and jovial, still kind and open-hearted, still fighting and keeping faith and positive attitude, though home alone, after Mum and Grandma passed away last year. I'm proud to have him as my Dad.
