The Ends of the Earth Have Seen His Mercy

HM Television and Apostolic Penitentiary: program on Confession for Jubilee Year of Mercy.

HM Television, in collaboration with the Apostolic Penitentiary, present “The Ends of the Earth Have Seen His Mercy,” a documentary on the Sacrament of Penance, on the occasion of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. 

Major Penitentiary of the Apostolic Penitentiary, Cardinal Mauro Piacenza; Regent of the Apostolic Penitentiary, Archbishop Krzysztof Nykiel; Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Archbishop Arthur Roche; the penitentiaries of the four major basilicas of Rome and other experts on the subject help us to enter more deeply into the unfathomable mystery of God’s mercy.

The program opens with a glimpse into the Old Testament to discover “a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity, continuing his kindness for a thousand generations, and forgiving wickedness and crime and sin” (Ex 34:6-7).

What follows is a presentation of Jesus Christ as the Revelation and Incarnation of the Father: “We see the closeness of God our Heavenly Father to us through the Incarnation, through His Son becoming flesh like us, living amongst us” (Archbishop Arthur Roche).

The central part of the program is dedicated to a reflection on the Sacrament of Penance, the instrument God uses to administer His mercy in the forgiveness of sins. The program offers a commentary on the basic requirements for making a good confession as well as an explanation of the needs and effects of reconciliation with God: “When a confession is made with faith, everything falls back into place, because the Lord is always ready to receive us, like the father from the parable of the Prodigal Son. With arms wide open, He awaits us in the confessional. All we have to do is be sincere and have contrition in our hearts” (Cardinal Mauro Piacenza).

The program concludes with a brief reflection on how priests should dedicate themselves to this ministry and a look at the indulgences the Church grants penitents.

Nothing Else Matters

As my time in Europe is coming eventually to an end, I wish to thank all great people, communities, parishes, families, institutions, congregations and companies who answered my plea for Kiabakari since I arrived here. Nothing else matters to me as much as Kiabakari and its development according to Lord's Will. I pack now my few things, head on to Bogota, Colombia on Monday for World Apostolic Congress on Mercy and from there to Kiabakari to continue our quest to fulfill he Lord's Will in that chosen place. From Wild Man To Wise Man

A friend of mine living in Kraków just recently gave me as a special gift a book written by Franciscan Friar, Fr. Richard Rohr - 'From Wild Man to Wise Man'. Thank you, Christopher!

I have been reading the book a this point of time and this read led me to the Male Spirituality website and to some of the recorded talks of Fr. Richard on YouTube. 

The book has been a revelation to me. I want to go through it slowly and deeply. I would suggest to all my male readers and friends to lay hands on this little gem of spiritual literature dealing with very rarely touched topic such as male spirituality. 

The same applies to the videos. Here below I embed a series on 'Why Males Need Initiation.' Listening to these talks, folks. They are quite revealing.

Meanwhile In Mwanza

Power down, thunderstorm in. How I missed this sight and sound! So many months without rain in Kiabakari, only one rain a couple of weeks ago. As I await the time to go to the airport, a bit worried about the weather and the incoming plane from Nairobi with our guests, two Polish surgeons who have landed safely in Nairobi (we exchanged text messages a while ago), I enjoy the sight and sound of the thunderstorm in Mwanza. Here is a short mobile phone video clip which sadly cannot translate by far the might of this weather event.

Fake drugs are sad reality in Kiabakari and Tanzania as well. Children and adults alike die because of it.

I am very proud to be part of the team which produced the video on fake drugs as the official video of the campaign. The video was shot entirely in Kiabakari in March 2012 with the support of Foundation Kiabakari and with all actors being members of local community in Kiabakari and today was launched officially on the website of Fake Drugs Kill campaign.

I laughed out loud a moment ago, when I opened an email from a friend of mine from Toronto, who sent me this video link on YouTube. I've been looking for precisely the same video for some time now, searching on YouTube, but in vain. Now, I got it! I love it, I love it, I love it!
