Rest A While

Tomorrow's Gospel, taken from Mark 6:30-34:

"The apostles gathered together with Jesusand reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them,
"Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while."
People were coming and going in great numbers,
and they had no opportunity even to eat.
So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
People saw them leaving and many came to know about it.
They hastened there on foot from all the towns
and arrived at the place before them.

When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things."

Rest a while...

Home, Sweet Home

So good to be back home with my Dad, the family and my best friends. Priceless! I'll spend some time with them,  visiting also here and there and undergoing a medical checkup for my troubles. All in all, it is a welcoming change in this year's hectic schedule and I am very grateful to the Almighty for giving me this chance to rest and recharge my inner batteries...

Taking It Easy

I used to commit the same crime in regards to dealing with malaria. Forgetting that the motto of this beautiful land, so many times heard and repeated - 'Haraka haraka haina baraka' (there is no God's blessing in haste) or 'Pole pole ndio mwendo' (Going slow is the right speed), is full of wisdom and maternal care of Mother-Africa, reminding me to take it easy and go slow when needed. Just like now when I got hit again by malaria and - frankly saying - should be firmly lying in bed, taking it easy and letting drugs to do the job and the body to regain the full strength...But...

Pensive

This is a correct term to describe precisely how I feel today. The only day I can be practically secluded and detached from the noise of parochial life and activities. I decided to stay home alone today, having celebrated a Holy Mass on Easter Monday in the morning, with everybody gone home to be with their families and loved ones. I needed this time for myself. Having just finished Lent and Holy Week marathon and bracing for the incoming Divine Mercy Sunday with its three days of busy schedule and logistics that brink on nightmare, especially when one takes under consideration frequent power-cuts and lack of running water in Kiabakari and the prospect of hundreds of pilgrims coming to the shrine for the weekend...

Flowing With The Rhythm

Oh yes, flowing with rhythm so well known to me... Oh, how I've been missing this flow of rhythm of my life... Giving my all on Saturday, giving my all on Sunday morning and early afternoon... and then on my return home, having it all for me and me only... these few precious hours of seclusion, detachment, separation from the routine and hectic schedule of the whole week... The Sunday afternoons, home alone and happy, recharging my inner batteries, putting myself together, rekindling the power of spirit, psyche, getting my body in shape for the next week's battles...
