These days I dislike to travel heavy loaded with suitcases and stuff like that. So I took this medium size bag on wheels and extendable handle and came Poland light. This meant coming with only one pair of shoes hastily repaired shortly before the flight in Kiabakari...
Too be specific, it was the right shoe that opened its mouth as if hungry (sole detached from the front of the shoe). Our shoe specialist in Kiabakari did a trick and the shoe got healthy again.
Today I put on the shoes getting ready to go out to pick up my national ID card which I applied for in December when I started the process of restoring my docs stolen in California last year. Then I noticed that the left shoe got hungry in turn and opened up its mouth! I had no choice but to go to the office and then proceed with other things on the agenda list for today walking in those shoes, as I had no shoes to put on.
Luckily, with the help of the boss of our foundation head office, we were able to find other shoes and I purchased them. The old ones were accepted reluctantly by a cousin of my boss in his shoe repair shop on Grodzka Street. He said that he could glue the sole but this is only temporary solution.
I guess my shoe repairers in Kiabakari would accept the shoes and repair them without saying a word. Maybe they know secrets of healing hungry shoes better than Polish adversaries? Or maybe they would accept any kind of shoes because pecunia non olet? Who knows...
Next time maybe it is a better idea to come with two pair of shoes, or leave one pair back home...
