Corpus Christi

The Sunday of the Solemnity of The Most Holy Eucharist (also known as Corpus Christi) waking up slowly to the sounds of music and announcement coming from the Seventh Adventist annual camp wrapping up after whole week prayers, songs, loudspeaker noises and general nuisance caused by the disturbance to us, neighbors, from very early morning hours till late night. Thank God it's over now! I wonder if there is a law in Tanzania safeguarding the right of citizens to have a peaceful rest at night and forbidding people from making noise from certain evening hour till certain morning hour...

No power again, Tanesco cut it since 6pm last evening, probably we won't get it back till 6pm today. Pity, we will have to celebrate the Corpus Christi Solemnity without it...

Although the preparations for the liturgical celebration of this feast are time consuming and involving a lot of people, cleaning, decorating, rehearsing, making altars and so forth, the Holy Mass itself and the Eucharistic procession are a real balsam for the soul. Being together as one family, surrounding Jesus, Emmanuel, the King of Mercy, showing Him around how we live and toil day by day, asking for and getting His special blessing and immersing ourselves in the Ocean of His Divine Mercy - brings peace, inner joy, relief, confidence and resolve to press on with our Christian lives and our commitments to God, His Church and the society...as I will walk holding Him fast in the monstrance, I know I will be carried away by my emotions, thoughts, meditation, having this unique opportunity to touch Him in the monstrance for such a long period of time, not like in the Mass when I elevate the Host in a few seconds... once a year I have this special opportunity to carry Him physically, holding Him to my chest and whispering to Him, listening to Him in the privacy of my heart....

I will offer today's Holy Mass for all of you and all intentions dear to your hearts. God bless us all!
