The winter season in Tanzania, at least in our part of Tanzania, has officially arrived. We woke up to a gloomy, foggy day, with temps that dropped down dramatically since yesterday. A very slight drizzle for a while, which sometimes happen in winter in Mara Region, no wind, thick air insulating sounds of the neighborhood, making for a weird feeling of being inside a cotton layer...
I had to rush to Musoma to post office and to pick up polo shirts for my catechists as tomorrow we will have our regular monthly meeting. These polo shirts with a special printing are an unexpected gift and I am looking forward seeing their surprised faces.
As my secretary and myself we heading to Musoma, the landscapes changed drastically. Foggy hills and valleys, visibility reduced to few kilometers or less, overcast, cold (well, cold in our area means temps below +20 Centigrades).
Marjanna and Marija noticing the weather change, wearing jackets or sweaters and commenting on the weather. Indeed, it has been a typical wintery day in Mara Region and it is going to be like that till September, with some variations and winds picking up strongly making for additional dust in the air everywhere...
Soon the lips will dry out and licking them to lubricate will make for even worse dryness. Same with the facial skin, hands and legs. Lotions, creams, lubricating lip moisturizers will need to be used daily. Not a good season for beauty efforts...
The winter season (or a dry season as they call it as well) means a real trouble with water for everybody. For us too. If we won't get some boost from village pipeline from time to time, I wonder how we will make it till short rainy season in late September...
Keep your fingers crossed for us.
