The Weapon Of Mass Destruction

As I look at the special stole of the Missionary of Mercy we were given by the Holy Father last week, I realize deeper and deeper the meaning and the sheer power of the service of the Missionary of Mercy in the Church in the Jubilee Year of Mercy. This stole first and foremost reminds all of us what we priests have at our disposal since the day of our ordination to priesthood.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a genuine weapon of mass destruction of the Evil One and of the aftermath of the desolation and destruction caused in our souls by the devil. This Sacrament is pure and victorious Divine Mercy "in action" restoring us to the dignity of daughters and sons of the Father of Mercy invited always to live to the fullest Father's Love in the deepest relationship with Him through His Life in us and through us towards others in the sanctifying grace.

Sahara

I read once somewhere about the people traveling from one location in Sahara desert to the other, and when they car broke down, they were found dead several days later. They died of dehydration, though they forgot that they had enough water to survive in the radiator of their car...

No Tap

Celebrating Holy Mass on Thursdays, though every Mass in a pilgrimage in time and space to the Upper Room in Jerusalem, gives a special meaning as it is the same day on which Jesus Himself celebrated His first Mass with the Apostles and instituted the Eucharist and the vehicle to bring Him to people in three sacraments of His unique love and mercy...

Streams Of Water

The First Thursday of the month. As on every thursday, todays as well, and indeed - more so, more intensely, our thoughts and heart travel to the Upper Room in Jerusalem, where Jesus, the King of Mercy, instituted two Sacraments of Mercy and the third one which makes sure that the first two sacraments never run dry and are always available to us...

What You Have Said Is True

Still under deep impression of today's Gospel reading. Samaritan woman meeting Jesus. She presented herself in truth in the eyes of Jesus and earned His praise. He did not condemned her for inappropriate behavior, for having many husbands and for living in a relationship without valid marriage. He focused one her opening to Him in truth. The truth of a woman met the Truth Incarnate...

The Guided Tour in Your Personal Desert

Setting off to the personal desert, guided by the same Holy Spirit who led Jesus Himself and strengthened Him in His personal battle against the temptations of the Evil One and His own bodily weaknesses. This year I am particularly relieved that the Holy time of Lent came at last. It took so long. Been waiting for it with hunger and longing of spirit, mind and body. The first day of Lent, the Ash Wednesday, opens officially the forty days long lenten exercises. This is a special time charged with so powerful gifts of the Holy Spirit we have no slightest idea!

Picking Up Pieces

The picture you see below was taken this morning before the Holy Mass in Nyakiswa village. Their chapel or - rather - sizable church has been under construction for some time. Whenever I go there, I sit for the confessions before the Mass. The catechist or one of the lay leaders would put a chair in the future sacristy of the church and I would sit and listen to confessions of those who wish to reconcile themselves with the Lord. Today there was no exception to this custom...

Bless Me iPhone For I Have Sinned

Just read the news on BBC about the iPhone/iPad application developed for those who want to prepare thoroughly for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The link to the article is here. I can imagine how much confusion this app will stir especially among those who are not Catholics or are Catholics who do not go to confession often. They may think this application will substitute the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I guess pastors should be ready to inform properly on this issue as the hot topic of old - that of the validity of confessions through the internet or phone conversation may rise up again and cause a lot of chaos.

Yom Kippur

At least twice a year we have the special day of repentance and reconciliation with each other and with God. A day or two before Christmas, again during the Holy Week preceding Easter and once again a day before the annual Patron Saint of the Parish feast day (July 4th). I do not include here communal penitential services (with individual confessions) celebrated on the occasion of Divine Mercy Sunday or other pilgrimage days...

The day before the Confirmation Mass, my confreres and myself will have an opportunity to scout an enemy territory, looking into an abyss and facing the Evil One in the bottle ground of souls of our confirmants who will come this morning for the confessions...

Clear Air

It is easier to breathe when you are able to clear the air between you and your lost friend... Today, my personal satisfaction flowing out of the feelings of relief and accomplishment after finishing the work on English version of DVD documentary on Kiabakari and on other DVD project (The Cemetery of World War II Polish Refugees in Tengeru, near Arusha, Tanzania) I was asked for by my friends in Canada (some of them were refugees themselves during the war and right after it, then they found a new home in Canada and elsewhere), has been further boosted by feelings of inner joy after clearing the air between me and a once a very good friend of mine who went AWOL, leaving bad taste in my mouth on the way out, but today I feel like I got him back after waiting for so long.
