Noone

"God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life". (Jn 3:16) This is an astonishing statement of the Holy Spirit through the Evangelist Saint John. Limitless love and care of God made Him to sacrifice His only beloved Son for us. Not some cows, goats, chicken or even some of us for the sake of all... Do you still doubt that God is a loving and merciful Father who is ready to do everything divinely possible - for us? There is the other side of this message...

Once I had a retreat for the youth group in Musoma Cathedral. In one of my reflections I asked them to close eyes and go back home to their rooms and think for a while what is the most personal, most valuable, most precious thing they have there.

After a minute or so, I asked again if they were ready. They confirmed. I asked them to open their eyes and told them: I want you to bring to me these things so I can give them to the needy. What happened next?

NOONE was ready to do so... Some felt offended, some laughed incredulously, some just stared as if they did not get the message... NOONE was able to give priority to someone else's need...

Sad lesson and reality check...

Tomorrow is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.

How can we understand the mystery of Triune God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, God of love, if we are unable to detach ourselves from something in our possession and give just a thing (not saying about giving out the only son!) with caring heart to a neighbor in need?

Only person with a heart full of love and compassion can understand the mystery of Merciful and Loving God Who is Love itself, and create the environment of love, mercy, compassion and understanding around him/her where God is present amidst,  coming along in our company, as the First Reading of tomorrow's liturgy of the Solemnity of The Most Holy Trinity tells us...
