Two Signs

Just a while ago I have finished the Holy Mass of the Solemnity of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist. As today is Friday, this Mass was the last event of the recollection day in the shrine, which dates back, as I wrote on my occasions, to 1994 when we were about to begin the construction of the parochial church, and has been continuing for 17 years now on each and every Friday of the year without interruption till today...

Today's retreat had a special meaning as we are about to celebrate Corpus Christi solemnity the day after tomorrow (as in Tanzania this Solemnity is not celebrates on Thursday after Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, but on the following Sunday to allow more people to participate) and in one week time it will be Kiabakari parish turn to receive the Jubilee Cross (on Thursday, June 30th)...

Saint John the Baptist today prepared us in a special way for the coming of the Lord in two signs. First, in the mystery of the Most Holy Eucharist. Then, in the sign of contradiction, the sign of Holy Cross of the Savior, and in this sign - Christ Crucified and Risen Himself.

We know too well that without Him we cannot do anything good or worthwhile. That is why we spent this Friday's recollection day on our knees in front of Him in tabernacle, in front of Him in the sign of Divine Mercy picture, in front of Him in the cross surrounding the Divine Mercy picture.

As the conclusion of today's retreat, I celebrated the Holy Mass in honor of Saint John the Baptist, for many intentions of my friends who asked me to pray for them and for their intentions (you know who you are and what your intentions were - I immersed you all and all your petitions in Divine Mercy Ocean during the Mass) and for the intention - that God's Will may be done during the Corpus Christi Solemnity and during the peregrination of the Jubilee Cross in the parish.

We did and still do what we can - going through various preparations, meetings, seminars, office matters, logistics etc. But, we surrendered ourselves and what we were able to do - up to the Lord and His Will. Fiat voluntas Tua!

Trusting in the immense Power and Mercy of Almighty God, we say today, walking back from the shrine to our homes - Marantha! Come, Lord Jesus!
