Sadness, Gratitude, Hope

So sad to see someone you get used to live with and share daily struggles - go back to Poland. Today in a hour time we will have a short ceremony combined with lunch at health center, bidding farewell to Zosia, a volunteer nurse from Humanitarian Aid Foundation 'Redemptoris Missio', who lived with us and worked in Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Health Center for six months since October last year till now...

She has been a very joyful and bright addition to our parochial community and the staff of the health center, likable, cheerful, hard working and very concerned about her patients and the welfare of people of Kiabakari.

It is so sad to all of us to see her pack and go. She, along with her visiting friend, Darek, who came a month ago to practice his medical skills in our health center as well, will leave to Nairobi on Wednesday and then on Thursday, they will fly to Europe...

Another worthy and memorable chapter of generous and dedicated service of young, bright and promising volunteers from Poland will come to an end. We are so grateful to all our volunteers who came to Kiabakari to live with us, share our daily lives and concerns and give what they have best - their love, compassion, magnanimous selfless service, learning and maturing along the way. This experience certainly changed each one of them. They learn new perspective of life, understand better themselves and what is really important in life. This is a learning curve for both sides - volunteers and people they serve in Kiabakari...

We thank our Zosia with all our hearts, wishing her all the best in her personal and professional life. Our gratitude will accompany her wherever she happens to live and work.

And we welcome with open hearts and arms new volunteers who get ready to come and put on the shoes Zosia left, which she - on her side - once found left by Jadzia and those who came before her.

It is my wish and desire that my mission and its institutions become a training ground for generations of volunteers from all over the world. I, personally, welcome anyone who wants to give the best they have for those I serve here, who are hard working, selfless, of good will, positively wired, open minded and humble enough to understand the truth that while they give and serve, they accept and learn and become transformed by the experience of voluntary service in Kiabakari...

Asante sana, Zosia! Safari njema! Karibuni Kiabakari, all you who want to serve voluntarily and selflessly! This is the place to be!
