The Curse

Cosmas, one of those burned alive parishioners (and it looks like he was falsely accused of stealing children and selling them to Gambush in Sukuma land, as the child the mob accused him to steal, was found with the father's child in Musoma), when they were stoning him and setting him alight, he allegedly (as I was told by people later on) cursed them and Kiabakari, saying that because they kill innocent man, there will be no rain in Kiabakari ever...

This morning, the first (main) Mass I celebrated for the repose of his soul, asked to do so by his immediate family. When I was announcing the intention of the Holy Mass, there was a total silence in the church.

And now it's raining quite heavily, people here would say - a big rain. This is the very first rain this year. Very timely indeed.

I can imagine what will be the next agenda for tomorrow gossips in the Kiabakari township. Voy (this is how they call me here, as people are unable to pronounce properly my Christian name - Wojciech, thus making it short - Voy) has removed Cosmas' curse by offering Mass for the peace of his soul. And you see, the heaven's response was immediate - the rain came after just a few hours on the same day.

As always, the Lord had the final word on any doubt or dispute.
