Zero-Zero

Just a quick post on what has just happened. Shortly before 7pm, community superior of my sisters came to me asking for help in picking up two sisters coming to visit us from Shirati, some 120 kilometers from Kiabakari. They sent her a sms asking for pick up at Zero-Zero junction (zero-zero, because all distances in our area are counted starting from that junction) which is exactly between Musoma and Kiabakari, some 20 kilometers from here. This is a junction of Musoma-Mwanza highway which passes through Kiabakari and the highway going to the Kenyan border and beyond to Nairobi and Mombasa....

Sister Mary did not feel comfortable driving at night, so she came for help. We jumped into the car and drove to Zero-Zero junction. The text message said that the sisters were at Zero-Zero waiting for us. When we arrived to Zero-Zero, sisters were nowhere to be seen and their mobile was off. Confused, asking people around if they saw anyone resembling a nun, we decided to go back a bit towards Kiabakari and climb the hill beyond Mmazami village where there was a Vodacom reception, as Zero-Zero is in depression and there is no network there.

We called home, no, sisters have not arrived. We called arriving sisters again. They said - 'where are you? We are waiting for you at Zero-Zero junction!' Gosh! which junction? Maybe they simply confused junctions? Anyway, we decided to drive back to Zero-Zero.

And there they were! A miracle, nun-morgana or what?

Then it all came out clear. They sent sms while they were still on the minibus from Tarime to Zero-Zero. When we called them, they were in the no-reception area. When we arrived to the junction they were still on the minibus from Tarime to Zero-Zero. Then, they arrived a minute or two after we left Zero-Zero!

What a day today. A true rollercoaster! And there are still three hours left of it...
